MEDITATION/ NEUROPLASTICITY

-NEUROGENESIS

Meditate requires a lot of mental training and control to shut down our thoughts; with this method by cooling down the Pre-frontal Cortex it will be very easy to silence our mind to enter in a perfect state of mediation. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for executive control of the brain. It is responsible for orchestrating all aspects of brain function.

PRE-FRONTAL CORTEX & MEDITATION

This primal region of the brain, associated with fear and emotion, is involved in the initiation of the body's response to stress. As the amygdala shrinks, the pre-frontal cortex – associated with higher order brain functions such as awareness, concentration and decision-making – becomes thicker.

MRI scans show that after an eight-week course of mindfulness practice, the brain’s “fight or flight” center, the amygdala, appears to shrink. This primal region of the brain, associated with fear and emotion, is involved in the initiation of the body’s response to stress.

Neuroplasticity refers to the lifelong capacity of the brain to change and rewire itself in response to the stimulation of learning and experience. Neurogenesis is the ability to create new neurons and connections between neurons throughout a lifetime. The latter process is also referred to as synaptogenesis.

“If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.” -Dalai Lama.

The opioid epidemic is a source of deep national anguish in the United States: It now kills almost 100 Americans each day, more than motor vehicle accidents.

"The Opioid Crisis: Harvard Medical School :

More than 2.5 million Americans are struggling with addiction to opioids, including prescription painkillers and heroin.

HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL:

Eight-week mindfulness meditation program appears to make measurable changes in brain regions associated with memory, sense of self, empathy, and stress.

They demonstrate that the first-person experience of stress can not only be reduced with an eight-week mindfulness training program but that this experiential change corresponds with structural changes in the amygdala.

There was increased grey-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection
